Still got mine sitting on a shelf somewhere, woohoo. The big thing when I attended was to get an old Bible or two, and cut out all the scriptures that were cited in the book, then paste them in the margin. I was not that ambitious, but a few in my class were.
I sometimes wonder where my classmates from 20 years ago are now...

I have a real hard time believing you can buy the things you mentioned for $135 a months, that comes out to 1.50 per meal. The chicken alone would cost more than that. Are you in the USA?
Wife and I spend about $90-100 per week. That does include ice cream, chips, soda, some frozen dinners. If we really tightened up we could maybe go down to $60 per week, But NoAp would be one sad person.

If portions are getting bigger its because they sell better. Personally, I can't get an order of McD's french fries that is too big. mmm. fries. Besides, nobody says you have to eat it all. Take it home. Split an order. Order off the kids menu.
And yes, I could stand to lose a few pounds...

Warrigal, don't be silly. Jehovah would not create carnivores. Don't you remember that all the animals ate plants in the Garden of Eden. So when the dinosaurs were on the earth, at least several thousand years earlier, there would be no fearsome carnivores lurking about. Of course, some no doubt were designed by Jehovah as carrion eaters, with sharp teeth and claws designed to tear the flesh of dead dinosaurs. And of course God's law on consuming blood has never applied to animals(Job 39:30).

And may I also add, what a bold new program this is from the faithful and discreet slave! This is a change even more amazing than last years unveiling of the new title, Congregation Book Study Overseer!
Imagine, no more confusion over which library is which. No more duplication of valuable resources. Again we see how the faithful and discreet slave class, under the firm direction of Jehovah's Holy Spirit, continues to guide and direct the congregations, as this old system totters precariously ever closer to its end. Surely we will all be blessed as we cooperate with this loving new arrangement.
Perhaps now you apostates will realize the folly of your ways. Despite the fierce persecution aimed at Jehovah's loyal servants, they continue to prosper. What other group has this kind of direction? None.
We can only wait in anticipation for further wonderful direction!

Can I ask you a dumb question? What exactly do you mean by cataloging your books at home? What would you do with uch a catalogue once you had it?
I have stacks of books myself, so I am just curious.

i just read a couple of threads related to this topic but would like some comments directly related to the issue of clergy privilege (c-p) and the jws.. if clergy penitent privilege refers to the right for a member of the clergy to remain silent concerning criminal acts disclosed to him by the person who committed the criminal act then does this privilege apply to jw elders?.
if a victim of abuse or their family goes to an elder to disclose they are the victim of abuse in the congregation and asking for assistance does c-p apply?
if the elder goes to the accused and asks him whether he did it and the accused says "no" was there a confession requiring c-p?.

NO the Clergy Client Privelege doesn't apply if it's the victim that tells.
Somehow I think this fact is overlooked in many cases, either through ignorance or through elders trying to keep a lid on things.

I go to the elders to see what I can do and what they can do.
This is the first instinct a loyal witness has, of course. It's been drilled into them for so long. They should go to the police first, but they don't. Or they wait for permission to report to the police. Why????? The Society will say, we never told them they could not go to the police. Technically they did not. They don't have to say it.
So how do you break that mindset?
